Nicolas studied the double bass and, for many years, has focussed his work on the different forms of traditional music in the Mediterranean Basin.

He hasn’t neglected his own European culture, however, indulging in his taste for improvisational music. His rich repertory as a musician includes various instruments such as the Maroccan guembri and the tarhu, a rare form of Middle Eastern fiddle of Turkish inspiration.

He has performed in numerous concerts throughout Europe, Magreb and the Middle East, and has taken part in several studio recordings with L’Hijaz’car, the Grand Ensemble de la Méditerranée, Houria Aïchi and Shezar.
